Radiator Grills - Mike's or Cox or ???

So what are you all running? Let's see em!

Just scored a 1050 radiator today from EBay UK and already have the 'big' Oil Cooler from the Daytona (which is same as the earlier 1050's)
Cox seems to only have one oil cooler listed (says '06) & not sure if they are the big or small fitment

Pics as well as opinions please!

A banged up & dirty radiator looks much better than a protective grille, no matter who makes it.

Seriously: do you guys get these because you like the look or because you live at the end of a 50 mile dirt road? I have never met a guy with a leaking radiator caused by pebbles or dirt thrown up by the front tyre.

I've got the Cox racing grilles on my '06. Fit is spot on and the black color is real subtle. The S3 is the only water pumper I've ever owned that didn't come with some kind of protective radiator grilles stock. The grilles and the SW-Motech centerstand were at the top of my must do list after purchase.

It is not the front tire I am worried about. I live in an area where quarries are common, as are gravel trucks and flying rocks falling from them. I replace windshields regularly. :violent1:

I used a section of stainless screen that was coated black to cover my radiator from this FOD. It is hardly noticeable, doesn't obstruct airflow, and already has a good sized dent in it from a rock - the radiator is still perfect.

The Cox Racing grille for my 03 was WAY off. I had to bend things around and cut to get the bastard to fit right and even then it looked like crap so I finally took it off. If I can budget a Mike's I'm going that route.

RE: Debris: One of my Hellas already got a hole from something. I have a Mikes set. I got them because they are practically invisible, black on black. Anyway, they fit great, but they seem kind of lightweight for protection purposes. Better then nothing though, for sure .

It is not easy to get a photo showing the grilles (I have them too) as they blend in with the bike, and do not stand out like dogs balls. I have had one rock hit the grille on the oil cooler.....put a small indentation in the grille, left the cooler unmarked.....paid for themselves already.
