Resistors AND Flasher Unit

Calling all electrical guys!

Quick question:
I just converted the tail end of my '06 S3 to the smoked Clear Alternatives Integrated LED Tail/Indicator unit. The dealer did it for me, because I'm an electrical spaz. Anyway the install was done using the two resistors that came with the tail kit, but I still feel like they are flashing a bit too fast. (Front indicators are still stock) Also, it looks great, but I'm not sure it's bright enough.

So the question is: Can I just replace/swap the stock flasher unit with the LED compatible flasher unit from NewSpeed3.com with my set-up, or do I NEED to cut out the resistors first?

Will there be any blown fuses using the LED flasher unit as well as the resistors?

Any chance removing the resistors and going with the LED flasher unit will increase the brightness?

Thanks in advance,
CT

When I first installed my clear alternatives unit, I used the resistors. But after changing to a better relay, and front LEDs, I removed the resistors and have not looked back.
You can use a LED compatible relay & the resistors but the resistors are just sitting there turning electrical power to heat. I would remove them. Thee will be no change in brightness.
Thanks for the speedy reply.. then again what else should I expect from the "Speedy" site.

I just hope I don't have any funky problems trying to dis-connect/remove the resistors and re-wire once I replace the flasher replay.

Thanks Gang!
Since i replace the fronts with led, i see no difference in rate with the back leds which i attached a flasher relay. I am probably gonna take it out too.
I have the Kellermann LED's, and have the Kisan signal minder flasher, so I am using resistors without a problem. But the led flasher is definitely a cleaner install.
I got one off ebay for $11 shipped. Problem solved. 8)

I'm not sure if I'm correctly understanding what I think you're saying:
I think you're saying that you originally replaced rear leds with new flasher relay then later installed front leds & the flash rate was the same (normal) therefor you can remove the flasher relay?
Once you replace the flasher relay, it doesn't matter whether you have one LED or 10 - it will contnue to flash at same rate. Removing it & going back to stock will give you fast flash with any LED replacing a std bulb.
Is there any problem with letting them blink fast? I just bought four new LED's, they haven't arrived yet. I was planning on just letting them blink fast.

NO problem, but you'll see, it's really fast. If you get a relay or the plugin from newspeed3, they flash at a normal rate of a automobile.
