It seems the older I get, the more I prefer to ride alone. I can go where I want, when I want. I got tired of waiting on people to get ready to ride after gas stops or rest stops. Not wanting to put in the miles or just wanting to go to Starbucks. Not keeping up or getting lost.
Am I the only self centered jerk here or do some of you feel the same way? Maybe I haven't found the right riding partener.

I'm one that enjoys riding with alteast one other person. Well hell, you guys know me, I'm mr chit chat so I likes to talk. ;D But sometimes, it's hard as hell to round up someone, when that happens, I head out alone, and usually end up with a riding partner by the end of the day. Yep, I'll talk shit to anyone. ;D

Since I can hardly stomach most of the population of this world anyway I spend most of my time riding alone.

Now, if there were more women riders it might be a different story...

I'm easily intimidated so I'm better off riding alone. I guess it stems from all those weekends on dirtbikes and atv's with drunk buddies, no stop signs, speed limits or common sense. Those where the days!

I can go either way.

On one hand it is nice to have no concerns except your self. No stops unless you want, no worries about people keeping up, etc.

On the other it's nice to have another person there just in case. Someone to BS with when ya stop.

Often I go with one of my buds that I work with, we've all ridden together enough so we can do it with no issues.

You've pretty much summed up how I feel.

My wife began riding about 3.5 years ago, and still I insist on riding alone. She goes out for group rides once in a while, but I pass on those. For me, riding is my private time.

I love riding long distances by myself, where its a challenge to cover long distances in the shortest possible time, where I stop just long enough to fill up or grab a quick bite, and back on the road.

I love the solitude of the solo ride. No-one else to consider, just one's self. I don't think thats particularly selfish. Our whole lives are about considering the other people in our lives. This is my one thing thats purely for me.

I usually ride by myself. I have a few other friends that ride in the area, but they only get out about once a month. I like being able to go at my own pace.

I like riding with others but sometimes there can be too many out or the range of riding abilities can be too large for the ride to go smoothly.

i prefer to ride with people i know so i know their riding styles and can trust them.

I do ride alone sometimes though and enjoy that but it's better to have someone to talk to when stopping for a brew

I ride by myself a lot, you don't have to wait for anyone to show up and get more time on speedy. I ride with others on the weekend, usually with my 64 year old father who rides the crap out of his TBS. My best friend has a Duc and we have very similar riding styles, so when we go out we ride fast, but safe. I also have a group of about 4 friends who are newer riders, who scare the crap out of me.

Short story long: Riding with a group can be work and stress you out. Spirited riding by yourself isn't always safe, or a good idea. Finding a balance is were the joy is.

While I occasionally like to ride with others, I prefer to ride alone. For me riding is calming - even when exciting. Just me the bike, the road, and the wind.

I still like to ride with a couple of friends every so often, but the experience is completely different.

I like riding with just a couple of friends who are well matched. Big groups are a PITA. However, if no one else is available I won't let that stop me for one second. I may even enjoy the solo ride more but it's nice to have someone to talk to at rest stops. Occasionally I've ended up with a whiner who thought it was too cold/hot/far/fast/rough/whatever. They never go again.

My friend is a beginner on her R6. Complains about her wrists a lot and doesn't like to go very far. Plus she scares me whenever we ride. She's taking her motorcycle class in a few weeks. Hopefully she'll get a bit better then. Maybe a trip down into the Lacrosse area by Dfib will be a good way to break in the new Pilot Roads.
