When I go for a run and the engine is hot, the bike will not start. Its getting power, the battery has been tested and is pumping 240 cycles, but if I stop after running for 20 - 30 minutes, the dash lights come on, but the it seems like the battery is flat, with a ra ra, nothing. If I wait 20 minutes until the engine is much cooler, we are back in business and the battery cranks as normal.

Any advice?? I have had the bike for 8 years and this started to happen only one month ago.

Most people will say that it is a heat soaking issue and that you need to upgrade your starter cables. I plan on upgrading to 4awg cables on mine at some point. I had the same issue but it has only happened to me 1 time.

I don't know if these starters are rebuildable but if they are I would look into cleaning and or replacing the brushes. I've seen starter motors with similar problems work well after some TLC.
