ok so Im at 500 miles, the bike sometimes does not start on the first shot, I also notice suction when I open the tank, Im teh worst when it comes to wrenching, I'll be bringing her to the dealer for the first service.. what should I ask them to do? thanks

Either your hoses on the bottom of the tank are in the wrong position, or your check valve on one of the hoses has failed. Search the forum for solutions as this has been discussed to death and the search function here actually is pretty good, I just took mine off.

i just opened my gas tank now to double check for suction and NO suction occured.... hmmmmmmm... should I just ask the dealer to remove the check valve completely when i take it in for 500 service??

is the check valve and disc valve the samething?

Yes.

Yes. It is the plastic bulge hanging on the middle of one of the hoses above front sprocket. You can pull it off yourself and replace with a hose extension piece (or replace hose with a longer one).

There is no real need to extend the hose. It does not carry anything unless the bike is lying on its side.
