OK so today was kinda special day, because 1. I had a day off 2. I had a day off and I wasn't hung over. So I decided to go to my dealer and ask about my bike and test ride something cool while I'm at it.

First I thought I'd take Daytona 675 out for a spin, but it turned out that they had a Benelli test ride day. So instead of daytona I decided to test the Benelli Cafe Racer. It was a short ride, but I got the general idea of the bike.

Pros:

- It looks awesome
- It's a yeller
- Feels very light
- Awesome brakes compared to speedy
- High quality components and light frame design

Cons:

- Not enough torque in the lower RPMs
- Not fun enough (hard to wheelie)
- Coolers on the sides (they get busted if you drop the bike)

Would I buy it? I doubt it. It's nowhere near as fun and comfortable. Also it would be a hell to drop this bike on it's side.

After that I went to another dealer and asked to test ride a KTM Super Duke. "Unfortunately" they only had the R-model for test ride ;D The sales guy said "try to stay on two wheels at least most of the time". I was like yeah right and took off.

Pros:

- The bike looks sick. I'm telling you, SICK! It looks way better than speedy.
- Some serious Torque, wheelies easier than Speedy
- Extremely light and flickable
- Totally hooligan
- This bike makes you grin like Speedy
- Awesome sound!
- The brakes kick speedy's ass
- High quality components

Cons:

- Twitchy throttle, but that's a matter of taste
- No pillion seat, but seriously, who gives fuck with this bike?
- Small and hard to figure dash
- Not very comfortable, the seat and suspension is hard. Wouldn't want to make a 300mile trip with this bike.

So would I trade speedy for this? It's a tough call. This bike is serious fun, but uncomfortable. I'd love to have this as a second bike, but it's definitely not an all around bike like speedy.

funny, I finally got to see a superduke in the flesh fer the 1st time yesterday. me likes!!! :lh: The bike looks much smaller in person than it does in all of the pics and all. I think the bike looks kinda bulky in the mags, but that didn't prove true in the flesh. I wished they would do rides there, but unfortunately, they don't. :slap: Of course, the 950 SMR they had was a calling my name too. Why couldn't I have been born rich? :slap: :loser:

Nah. I just let it be in the normal mode (button up). Button down would be -10hp the guy said.

I didn't make it to the twisties because of the lack of time. But the bike seemed to turn real easy. The center of gravity is low and bike is LIGHT so it turns pretty much by itself. Does that make good cornering? Dunno, matter of taste I guess.

I think they're both Fugly, I've seen the Duke in person and wasn't very impressed by looks. Speedy has a classic motorcycle look, IMO it can't be beat one light or two. It's always fun to ride other bikes though. I've learned that I bought a great bike right of the bat. Seems to be the general concensus, a great bike but poor parts and dealer support. Hopefully Triumph can sort that out.

Do what? Replace Speedy? ;D

Haven't found a bike yet that would compare. And I can't really replace the bike because it's in the shop right now. Hard to sell a bike that's being repaired because of severe gear box malfunction. And I can't afford to buy a new bike before I've sold the old one.

And all the money and time I've invested in my baby... Ouch. I'm not ready to give up just yet :'(

I would say hell no with Benelli. 3 words : Made In China.
A No to the Duke . Why ? You think parts for a Triumph are high ?
I have buddies with KTM dirt bikes that eventually traded them in because it takes forever to get parts . And they're super expensive.
For a big bore hooligan it's the Speed Triple or the Monster . Air /oil cooled of course .
I've always loved Triumphs. Meridans and Hinkleys alike.

But if I ever did go KTM I like that 690SM . 70hp thumper . Now that would sound like fun. :jerkoff:

Binelli can suck my balls, owned lock-stock-and barrel by the Chinese. I know that does'nt bother some people but it bothers me so, fuck em. I like the KTM except for two things-16 grand-and that nasty ass looking front fender, same goes for the Duc hypermotard. The front fender on both bikes suck.

Thats just a piece of body work.
The oil cooler.
It is the battery. Mounted front & low to keep weight close to ground.

At least this is how it was for the original 2005 SDuke. I have not taken a look at a more recent version if they have juggled parts around.

what does every one think of the aprilia touno 1000r ? this bike one almost every naked bike/hooligan shoot i've read so far!
it doesn't have any balls below 3500 rpms but i guess from what all the tester's say that when it hits it's sweet spot all hell breaks out.
my buddy went out and bought one last year . he love's it the fuckin thing goes like a raped ape. hangin wheellies in all the gears.
he almost bought the speedy he loves the naked look and the reviews he liked to but he just fell in love with the touno when he seen and test road it.
personaly for me i like racing stop light to stop light having that instant power right of the bat thats way i decided to get the speedy.
when i was 18 i bought a 1972 dodge dart with a .30 over 340 magnum a chunky cam and 4:56 gears that fucker was pure insanity on wheel i could bearly keep the fucker in a straight line and in gave me wiplash everytime i hit the gas i even broke the bolts off the hold the front seat to the floor in it.
so i guess to me the speedy kinda reminds me of that car INSTANT GRADIFICATION as soon as you twist the throttle no matter what your tach is reading.

So today my plan was to test ride MV Agusta Brutale and Ducati Hypermotard. Unfortunately they didn't have either available for test tide until at the end of the week :violent1: Then I went to a Buell dealer because I wanted to test ride the paint shaker, but they didn't seem too interested in the customers so I left. I didn't really even want to ride anyway.

So then I decided to go to a local Yamaha Center to test ride the FZ1. At first they didn't seem interested either so I left and went to visit some other stores, but came back 30 minutes later. Finally I got to talk to a sales person and went to for a test ride. They didn't have the naked version so I went with the FZ1S model.

As you all know this one has the R1 motor in it, but the cam has been changed so it has less HP, but more torque.

Pros

- Looks good
- Lotsa power
- Enough low end torque for comfortable city riding
- Kick ass brakes compared to speedy
- Good gear box compared to speedy
- Good riding posture
- Precise streering

Cons

- Not enough torque in the lower RPMs for power wheelies
- This machine is powerful but still somehow boring...

So eventhough this machine is supposed to have 20hp more than speedy I can't feel it on my butt dyno. It's fast, but nothing remarkable compared to speedy. Would I trade Speedy to FZ1? Umm, no. It doesn't have the grin factor like Speedy and Superduke.
