The seat rubing the gas tank?

My seat (OEM) is rubbing the paint off the gas tank. I remember over at the T-rat site there was a tape of some kind to stop it
from happening.

Mine does it too, I never really thought to do anything to stop it though.
If it is under warranty, let the dealer and manuacturer worry about it.
I have heard they try to fix the problem by sending you more of those round sticky cusions to put on the underside of the seat. Those stick there all of one ride. :finger:
If they repeatedly come off, you can demand a permanent fix. Or a new tank.

I used a couple of small pieces of non-adhesive plastic film on the tank. I also make sure the tank is as far forward as possible each time I take it off.
Besides losing those stupid cushions mine has been fine. No scratched or wear that I can see. I'll give her a little closer insection this afternoon when I pull the tank.
Mine kept coming off so I used some contact adhesive to stick 'em on proper.
My scratches are hid by the seat, I've never really cared that they were there.
07's have a couple of pieces of clear stuff (new technical term) on the tank to prevent that very thing.

Take a look at the Sargent seat. It's got a piece of felt that doesn't seem to cause any damage. My 06 had this bad with the stock seat. The 05 I bought had a stock seat, but it didn't have this issue. Of course it did have a couple of minor scratches. So I guess I'm saying buy an aftermarket seat or try to put a piece of felt on the seat to keep the problem from getting worse. As long as you can't see it, it doesn't bother me. But to each their own.
I had the same issue and used some thin white weatherstripping tape that I stuck to the seat. It has been there for 3 months or so.

The dealer probably peeled them off, thinking they were more warning stickers...
I had the same issue on my 06- the foam stickers on the bottom of the seats were not lined up properly to cover the seats staples so the staples ground through the paint of the tank.
The dealership replaced the tank under warranty and put more sticky foam over the staples.
