I replaced my rear with a Dunlop D208. I like it alot, and it's got about 80% of the tread left after 2000 miles. Front is almost ready, and I'll put a Dunlop up front, too.
I have the 208s as well. Once warmed up I like them a lot, but I've had two instances where the rear slid out as I was spooling it up coming out of a turn shortly after starting out. Not crazy, just mildly aggressive. So I don't trust them until I've got several easy corners on them. A little too trackish, I think. I'l need new tires early this summer, still trying to decide what to use, but it won't be the 208s or the qualifiers.

I switched to a Dunlp 208 front and 218 rear. The 218 should be similar to the 208, I got the pair for $100, so I wasn't bitchin. When the 218 wears out I'll put a 208 on, then qualifiers probably since I may have a hook up on some. I like whatever I can get cheap.

I have to say that Triumph def has it right. The only tires that I will ride are the Pilot Powers. One ride on them and you will love them too. Hell, I can rip clutch wheelies on a TL1000s streetfighter in the pouring rain. Talk about traction. And the wear like iron. As long as you arnt bruning them up. I got 15000 miles out of my last rear and 18000 miles out of the front. And that includes a cross country ride from RI to San Fran Cali back and forth to Laguna Seca for the 2005 Motogp and then back home and the rest of the season. There is no other in my eyes.

Speedy might be a little harder on the ol tire fund....

I managed to eek 3500 miles out of my rear pilot power and that included 500 of semi-gentle break-in time.... :smitty:

15000mil out of a Pilot Power rear?
Are you sure it was not Pilot Road or similar more touring oriented tire?

5000km per Pilot Power or Pilot Power 2CT rear is the absolute max I have managed. And even then the last 1000km is very easy riding waiting for the belts to show through.

Very good tires, both vanilla PP and PP2CT, but I might try a harder compound at next change. I feel I don't really need all the traction as most of the time I ride granny style.

:shocker: :wtf: :shocker: wtf?!? No way you got 15k miles out of a rear!?! Are you f'n serious? Honestly, as most have mentioned, you are very lucky to git more than 5k miles, and that's IF you take it very easy and don't ride aggressively. I've never gotten more than 3500 miles out of a rear myself. The absolute most I have heard of was 9k miles, and I didn't believe that. HOW IN THE HELL DID YOU GIT 15K MILES OUT OF A REAR? You sure you weren't run'n a Goldwing tire? :d:

Tankslapper happens when you blast the throttle on corner exit and, nearly simultaneously, front wheel comes up as rear wheel breaks loose, causing hell's own imbalanced motorcycle - usually resulting in the front end (think handlebars) whapping from steering lock to steering lock as rider initially overcompensates for above imbalanced condition by slamming throttle shut and setting front wheel back on ground while it's still pointed in direction other than direction of motorcycle travel. While handlebars don't actually "slap" tank, it sure feels like they might!

Can also be caused by hopelessly inadequate smallish steel frame tubes mixed with gobs of unharnessed power such as those found on early superbikes (i.e. Kawi GPz series)....ask me how I know.

I'm running pilot roads on the front and back. Next time I'll probably switch to a pilot power in the front. Right now the Road up front just isn't giving me a lot of confidence.

Does it slip or wander around or is it just that you know that you have a spot touring tire?
