Some people (Triumph owners or prospective owners )are sick of Triumph being at a Horsepower Deficit from 2010 to 2019. The introduction of the 1200 Speed Triple meant Triumph had finally rejoined the Horsepower war against the rest of the Naked Superbike market. For those owners who don't want the 180+ HP, either keep their current 1050, or if they want a new Triumph triple get a Street Triple RS, which will likely beat the last of the 1050 models around a track, and in mildly tuned and modified form, probably embarrass the 1050 on the road in canyons. The $20k 1200 S3, is aimed squarely at its European rivals that are all making similar power - Ducati, Aprilia, KTM, BMW & MV etc. It has premium suspension, premium brakes and technology. The similar spec Yamaha MT-10 won't be much cheaper...
When I got my 06 Speedy 19 years ago, it was good, but it certainly wasn't premium, not compared to the current version. It was priced above the jap bikes but less than the Italians. Now it's aimed squarely those top performers.

WAS a very happy 2009 speed triple rider.... set up nicely, corners, brakes, everything but absolute acceleration was perfect...

Read an article watched a couple of youtube videos of the 2025 1200RS, thought to myself why not test ride one..., good excuse for a 5 hour round ride to the nearest dealer on some awesome backroads... and to be honest.. Really Bruce! come on really can't be that much better, than the bikes I already own, especially the 1050...

5 minutes into the ride I was blown away, it was a whole new level, we are talking 1979 GS1000/1981 Katana to the 1992 GSX1100R (also known as the GSXR1100), revolution levels...which was my last major revelation like this, and "must have one in my life" moment.

The deceptive speed yeah it is subtle, not arm wrenching like my modified VTR1000, but the tip in, the suspension... oh yeah that suspension, the way everything falls to hand, the feeling of just you and the road. I really believed beforehand it would feel remote from the road, you know no road feel underneath you... well how wrong could I be???

Yeah it's that good, and I have ridden most of it's competitors, and plenty of muscle-bikes... this one is at the moment "THE BIKE" ....
there is faster out there
There is some (not many) that hold a line better
There may be some that look better

However none of them have the speedtriples overall feel.

that's 55 years of riding, and 45 of them on road as well under my belt, telling me that
Yeah they are that good...

So as soon as I have sold the 1050, a 2025 lands in my shed at $32k AUD...
