Rack or trunk for Speed Triple?

I'm sure you'll all think I'm a retard for asking but has anybody fitted a removable top case or rack to a 07/08 speed triple? I currently ride a V-Strom, TLR and TLS and I'm looking to downsize to one street going bike. Since I love the all day comfort of my V-Strom I was looking at a Tiger but I'm also interested in a Speed Triple if I can get a removable trunk for it. I commute a bit during the week and have to haul junk around so a trunk is a must have.

My local dealer is getting a matt black one in this week and I'm starting to think it could be the right bike for me. They have a leftover green 07 on the floor but that color has never been my favorite.

I also had some questions on reliability but think I got most of those answered through searching past threads. Really I want a bike like the TL and VStrom that I can just change the oil and adjust the chain and not have to worry about issues popping up.

SW Motech make a rack for the 1050 that you can then put Givi case on.Be careful though as it snapped my rear subframe but if you are prepared to strenghthen you subframe(a line of weld where the round tube meets the square one) it is a good option for luggage.I know Twisted Throttle sell them in the good ol' U S of A(A standing for arse

) but i don't know where else except norrus.com in Australia (Australia standing for "F*#k we're good!"

Did you have the case overloaded or is that just a known weak spot on the subframe? Thanks for the heads up on the rack that's exactly what I'm looking for.

No the rack wasn't overloaded,just a weak spot i guess.Try the search function up the top of page,type in luggage or racks i guess,see what happens.Ventura make a good system too.And stop bothering me c*#tchops! :slap: :buttkick:

Soft luggage isn't an option since I need to lock things up and leave the bike at times.

Before my Speed Triple, I had Sprint ST1050. I ran an SW-Motech toprack and a 41-liter Givi top case on it -- using it exactly as you describe wanting to use yours. Worked GREAT.

If that setup works on the S3 without rear frame issues, you're gold. :drink:

Sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. I'll most likely wind up with an 08 if I get a S3 so maybe I'll take a look at the new subframe and see if it's any different from the 07 as far as strength goes.
